The Park
Hey there, have you been to the Upper Vista Park in Warren, now known as the Chihuahua Desert Garden at the Vista? If not, you’re in for a treat!
Project Wildlife Bisbee approached the city about the revitalization of The Park, and the City of Bisbee teamed up with Project Wildlife Bisbee and fenced it. The fence panels still allow the deer and smaller animals in, but they’ve kept the javelinas out, which are known for being a bit more troublesome. Project Wildlife Bisbee volunteers took over from there.
We plowed the paths, dug furrows for water lines, installed a drip watering system through much of the nearly two-acre park,andaand planted hundreds of plants, shrubs, and trees since we started in 2022.
Every day, a volunteer walks the park to make sure everything’s in order, waters the plants by hand when needed and ensure the gates remain closed to our javelina friends!
It’s a big job, but it’s worth it. Great gardens don’t happen overnight. They take time and effort.
The Bisbee community has really stepped up to help out with this enormous project. Volunteers, private donations, corporate sponsors, and many community members have all made the park into the beautiful community project we all enjoy today.
